Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease characterized by systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg. Management of hypertension can be done with non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is by giving boiled water from celery leaves. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving boiled water from celery leaves on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers.

This research method uses quantitative research. Type of quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental). The design used in this research is pretest – posttest with control design. The number of samples used was 36 people. The data collection technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data from each pretest and posttest group will be carried out by the Wilcoxon test to determine whether there is a change in blood pressure in people with stage 1 hypertension or not.

The results of the study showed that there was a difference in the average before and after being treated with boiled celery leaves and there was a significant relationship (p=0.000<0.05) on systolic and diastolic blood pressure during the pre and posttest, so Ho was rejected, Ha was accepted, which means there was influence on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive sufferers.
